DEADLINE is reporting that: Lucasfilm has closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy.
That being said, I usually don’t report Star Wars theatrical news. Because films announced often don’t get made…
- Rian Johnson’s trilogy: Johnson’s trilogy was announced shortly before The Last Jedi and was intended to be separate from the Skywalker saga. However, the project was put on hold in 2021, but Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy have both said that it’s not dead.
- Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron: This movie was canceled.
- David Benioff and DB Weiss’ trilogy: This trilogy was canceled.
- Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie: This movie was canceled.
- JD Dillard’s Star Wars movie: This movie was canceled.
- Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie: This movie is reportedly on “indefinite hold”.
-
And The New JEDI ORDER movie starring Daisy Ridley as Rey reportedly needs more work and is now on hold. Also, the LANDO movie is orbiting the unknown…
So now, the only STAR WARS movie announced that is actually on track to reach theaters is THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU. Which recently finished filming.
GOOD LUCK SIMON KINBERG!
HOPEFULLY THE FORCE IS WITH YOU!
