The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that veteran action star Dolph Lundgren, whose career has ranged from A View to Kill to most recently The Expendables, will be joining Jason Momoa in 2018’s Aquaman.

Lundgren will play King Nereus of the Kingdom of Xebel, one of the many who wants Aquaman dead. The character also claims Mera as his own, so Lundgren and Amber Heard, who plays Mera, could be sharing the screen quite a bit. This is not Lundgren’s first foray into the world of comic book films. He played Frank Castle in the 1989 adaptation of The Punisher and He-Man in DC’s Masters of the Universe.

Along with Lundgren the cast features a full line-up: Momoa in the title role, Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s Mother, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and villain, Willem Dafoe as Dr Vulko, Aquaman’s advisor, Yahya Adbul-Mateen II as Black Manta and Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father.

James Wan will be in the director’s chair for the next installment of the DCEU, and is currently finishing up pre-production for what will be the third appearance of Momoa as Aquaman and Wan’s debut. Principle photography should begin in May in Australia. Wonder Woman, the next installment, hits theaters this June followed by the Justice League this November.

Aquaman swims into theaters everywhere December 21st, 2018.
