My Thoughts

I give this film a B.  It’s literally a story within a story and at times it was hard to follow. But all in all, this film has you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

I couldn’t wait to watch this blu-ray as I heard good reviews on it. Susan Morrow (played by Amy Adams), is an art gallery owner who receives a Novel written by her ex-husband, Edward Sheffield (played by Jake Gyllenhaal).  As stated above, it’s literally a story within a story.  The film starts off showing Susan who has trouble sleeping (Adams) and her failing marriage. Then dives into the novel she is reading written by her ex-husband Edward Sheffield (Gyllenhaal).  I felt as if the Novel was a metaphor to their marriage as the novel was dedicated to Morrow. I loved how it had you saying “WTF?!?”  throughout the film.  You think you have it figured out and then another twist has you second guessing yourself.
