Valiant’s most outlandish duo is back with Quantum and Woody Must Die #1.

Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering scientific accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming! (And, yes, there will be a goat too. Eventually.)

When reading Quantum and Woody, it’s impossible to predict what will happen. For instance, you would have never predicted that a pregnant super-powered goat would be a key part to a storyline. Where else will you find something like that?

This issue starts the series off pretty nicely and with some action. Quantum and Woody take on a team of villainous twins called the Domino Twins. The Domino Twins are pretty much a female version of Quantum and Woody so you know they are in for a good fight and some humorous conflicts.

As always, the humor takes center stage in Quantum and Woody and that’s a big plus cause there are plenty of serious/dark comics out there. This one provides humor that gets away with not being too cheesy and action scenes where anything can happen.

The issue has a lot of dialogue which is another plus. I know there are times where you buy a comic and when you get home to read it, you finish it within five minutes because the book lacked on dialogue and just went with heavy imagery. So if you are an avid reader, you will be happy with this buy.

Quantum and Woody Must Die is one of Valiant’s best and writer James Asmus continues to stand out from other writers out there with his unpredictability and really just not having any limitations to writing. There’s no wonder why he was nominated as Best New Writer for the Harvey Awards.

Quantum and Woody Must Die #1 hits stores Jan. 28.
