August 29th, 2012 marked the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise. Hideo Kojima took to the stage at the Metal Gear Anniversary event in Tokyo this week and made the announcement that while its been discussed for years finally the Metal Gear movie is closer to reality. Kojima announced that Avi Arad who is responsible for a long list of Marvel movies that include Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the like was the ideal man to make the film.
Avi responded that he plans to make a fantastic movie that’s faithful to the series’ spirit.
No date or other information was announced, but it was one of the biggest announcements of the event especially since Metal Gear Rising Revengeance isn’t too far from release.
