There were talks about a possible Beverly Hills Cop 4 movie, but those talks were squashed by Eddie Murphy himself while he was out promoting Tower Heist last year.
Eddie Murphy did say that they had shifted plans to keep the series alive going from the movie screen and instead make it a TV series, continuing off after the events in the third movie, rather than reboot. While currently the show is being pitched to different networks right now, the plan is for the show to shift focus from Axel Foley to his son, but Eddie Murphy will appear on the show on occasion as Axel Foley who has been promoted to the Detroit Police chief.
Eddie Murphy will serve as the executive producer on the show and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan along with Sony Pictures Television are attached to the series. I wonder if they plan on having some of the original movie cast make appearance in the series.
