The First X-Men is a total change from anything else you have watched or read about the origins of the X-Men. Wolverine has been asked to help a former war buddy whose son has special abilities and after meeting him Wolverine decides to help those with no one to guide them, with the help of his partner Sabertooth, who doesn’t really like the job of babysitting.
In the first class movie, it was Charles who decides to start helping people after meeting Mystique and learning about his powers but this time the show is about Logan who eventually finds a list of mutants being targeted, among the names on the list include Holo, and Charles Xavier himself. Wolverine confronts Charles who wants nothing to do with mutants and instead wants to lead a normal life even thou he has his powers to read minds. Which leads Logan to search out another mutant with another power to help.
This is a pretty cool series, it seems to only be a 5 part series but now Logan is in control and currently searching out those who feel like no one understands them, who better to train those with powers but former soldiers and current mercenaries, Christos N. Gage gives his unique look on the origins of the X-Men and makes it pretty interesting read for a #1.
Neal Adams handles the art for the series and did a pretty good job, Wolverine and Sabertooth have more of an animal look to them compared to a more tame version made in other X-Men comics and Charles being a college student has already gone bald rather than a young full of hair version. While there is not a lot of action in this chapter I look forward to seeing where the series will go in this version.
