Despite the horrific shooting in Aurora, Colorado that claimed 12 innocent lives, the “Dark Knight Rises” will most likely earn $160 million this weekend if Sunday box office sales hold. According to the Hollywood Reporter, movie studios won’t report any box office grosses this weekend out of respect to the victims and their families.
The Warner Bros. movie had the third best opening of all time at the domestic box office for any film. And overall domestic box office revenues are up 24 percent from the same weekend last year, probably fueled by the “Dark Knight Rises.” This will go to show, fellow moviegoers, that we can be stronger than the fear that one despicable act can instill.
