A Red Band trailer for ‘The Man With Iron Fists’ that is produced by Quentin Tarantino and directed by The Wu Tang Clan’s RZA has hit. The trailer shows the typical over-the-top kung fu fighting, a lot of blood, cheesy dialogue, recycled story lines and strange casting (Russell Crowe) that is typical in most of the films Tarantino is involved with lately. In my opinion, it’s getting old.
We know RZA is a rap artist and this is his first time directing a film but for the life of me – RAP DOES NOT GO WITH KUNG FU AND IT’S ALL OVER THIS TRAILER! I’ve noticed this trend of Hip-Fu for a while now and it stinks. I mean how did all this get started? I’m talking about the hip-hop incorporated into Martial Arts movies. I just don’t get it. I mean really, was Rap Music that popular in China’s feudal era. Please, just stop it.
Seriously, Hollywood should consider hiring more original and talented people a bit more often. All these guys do is take the best parts of others films and place it in theirs. Some call it an homage, I call it unoriginal. It was fun for a time, but now it’s just old.
Synopsis:
In feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.
‘The Man with the Iron Fists’ opens in theaters sometime in 2012. The film stars Russell Crowe, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier, Dave Bautista, RZA, Rick Yune, and Yoyao Hsueh. RZA directs.
