Michael ‘MPsy’ here…
A while back word was floating around that Steven Spielberg was in talks about developing ideas for ‘Jurassic Park 4′, a potential franchise reboot. Then we heard that Spielberg has confirmed news about the exploration of the sequel, but word has it he probably wouldn’t direct. And now we get word from Deadline that the screenwriters for ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver has been hired to pen the sequel with Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy producing.
Of course at the moment there are no plot details, but this is the most solid news about a potential sequel. While it’s exciting to hear that progress has been made for this project, a lot is also riding on the script as well. Hopefully Jaffa and Silver will able to pull it off. With their track record on the Planet of the Apes sequel, it’s a safe bet. Universal is likely testing the waters to see how the film will do with the re-release of the first Jurassic Park in 3D, which is due out next summer on July 19, 2013.
