We’re Going, the newest project from All Night Pawn Shop is a documentary following Raymond Barth, a retired oilfield man from Texas as he takes his 1941 Chevy army truck across the Alaska Canadian highway up into the arctic circle and back.
He’ll be joining a convoy of 100 vehicles of like minded military vehicle enthusiasts as they make the trip together through the Yukon up into Alaska, passing through some of North America’s most scenic and awe inspiring countryside. And, following him, a small film crew made up of Raymond’s youngest son Harrison Barth and Harrison’s best friend Noah Rieke.
The Alaska Canadian Highway was built right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor to connect the U.S. to Alaska. Originally, nothing more than dirt and wood cut through the wilderness, the ALCAN highway is a road trip destination for travelers the world over today. We’ll be deviating from the main drag and luxurious highway to follow along older and more historically significant side roads that closer match the original highway. With little in the way of what most people identify as modern towns and cities, the trip will be mostly camping and roughing it through the midnight twilight time of the year. A grueling and exciting trip, this documentary will follow along and show the world this magnificent journey in the cab of one of the very trucks that would have built it. A father, a son and life long friend will eat, sleep and live together along the road learning about each other and themselves.
