Warner Home Video has released three clips from the DC Comics animated movie ‘Superman VS the Elite’ due to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 12th. Voicing the roles of Superman and Lois Lane are George Newbern (Justice League and Justice League Unlimited) and Pauley Perrette (NCIS). The man of steel must deal with a new team of upstart superheroes with their own more extreme and brutal definition of justice. The Elite are made up of Manchester Black the team’s telepathic and telekinetic leader, Coldcast an electromagnetic manipulator, Menagerie who is bonded to an alien weapon cache, and The Hat who is armed with a magical hat that allows him to pull out nearly item he needs.
The story is based on Joe Kelly, Doug Mahnke, and Lee Bermejo‘s 2001 ‘Action Comics’ storyline ‘What’s so Funny About the Truth, Justice, and the American Way”. As heroes, the Elite has no bountries and are willing to even kill to achive their goals. Which puts them directly against the more ethical Superman and his way of dealing with villains. Directed by Michael Chang (Batman: The Brave and The Bold) with Bruce W. Timm (Batman: Year One) as executive producer, and Alan Burnett (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights) as producer.
