Michael ‘MPsy’ here…

So…anyone else wondering what’s up with Bane’s mask in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’? Well ask no more because in a new article in Rolling Stone seems to have provided the answer along with a detailed point-by-point description of the man who broke the bat. While in the comics the origin of Bane is that of a fearsome South American juggernaut who gained his inhuman strength from an experimental drug known as Venom. In the film director Christopher Nolan takes more of a realistic approach as he explains in an interview with Rolling Stone;

Bane is someone ravaged by pain from a trauma suffered long ago, and the mask dispenses a type of anesthetic that keeps his pain just below the threshold so he can function.

Then in another interview costume designer Lindy Hemming reveals in an interview with Empire magazine;

He was injured early in his story. Hes suffering from pain and he needs gas to survive. He cannot survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at the back where there are two canisters of what ever it is…the anesthetic.

Included below is also a wanted poster supposedly released by Warner Bros. with information of what the caped crusader is accused of doing.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ stars Christian BaleAnne HathawayTom HardyJoseph Gordon-Levitt,Marion CotillardGary OldmanMorgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. It’s directed by Christopher Nolan and opens July 20th.
