Avenging Spider-Man #7 Review

your neighborhood friendly Chris D here…

Just an average late afternoon in New York, a crowded city, busy streets, and Spider-Man and She-Hulk taking on a gigantic mutated fish creature wreaking havoc in the sewers….wait what? Well, it is Marvel Comic’s version of New York and we have seen stranger things.

After the duo take down the sea creature, She-Hulk dashes off to a meeting, but not before Spider-Man tries to join her as they trade jokes and insults. She-Hulk makes it to a museum in order to meet some clients about a new Egyptian exhibit where things get crazy when some robbers try to steal a few artifacts. A cat idol talks to She-Hulk and suddenly she grows a feline tail. Spider-Man appears and just can’t resist teasing She-Hulk about her new look, before meeting an Egyptian goddess.

Odd and filled with amusing jokes the Avenging Spider-Man just felt like I was reading a version of the original Spider-Man and Friend’s comic book. Not really worth picking up.  This issue can very easily be skipped since it just felt like a random filler where Spider-Man solves it with brains followed by dumb luck. I don’t know what Kathryn Immonen was trying to achieve, but I did get a laugh out of the back and forth quips between Spider-Man and She-Hulk.

Nothing amazing when it came to the artwork, but again I felt like it was reminiscent of  the early Spider-Man and Friends art style.

This is one of the digital Marvel downloads where if you do buy the comic you get a free digital version to read off Marvel.com, which is a nice bonus if you do happen to purchase this issue.
