Michael ‘MPsy’ here…
Slowly but surely the New 52’s Justice League is forming with the introduction of the Flash in issue two. Using the old cliché scenario of having the heroes square off against each other before realizing they’re against a common enemy we see Batman, Superman, the Green Lantern, and now the Flash slowly piece together the puzzle of the little gifts Darkseid’s minions left behind. And when I say slowly I mean watching paint dry progression on the story pace. Thankfully with the witty writing of Geoff Johns (Green Lantern and Flash) and the awesome imagery of Jim Lee (Batman: Hush and Superman: For Tomorrow) I can forgive the painfully slow speed of the story.
Readers are also treated to a bit more background of the revamped Victor Stone aka Cyborg before his rebirth as the mechanized one time Teen Titan. We see him here as a young football star scouted by various college scouts but in an estranged relationship with his father a scientist for S.T.A.R. Labs.
Jim Lee was really able to showcase his talents in this issue with a lot of high action sequences and double page spreads. So if you’re looking for something with flurry of activity you won’t be disappointed. Story-wise though here’s hoping business will pick up soon and with issue three they’ll wrap up the final character introductions and get to the real meat of the tale.
