20th Century Fox has updated their Facebook page for the Ridley Scott film “Prometheus,” which is currently in production. The page makes a vague reference to details in the film, but any news is exciting regarding this film.
Here is the Facebook post:
“Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discovers a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”
The “terrifying battle to save the future of the human race” could mean almost anything. However, information has been bounced around the internet that the crew aboard the “Prometheus” is searching for the origin of mankind and encounter a giant benevolent elephantine race. One or more of the crew members steal a valuable artifact from these alien giants, and in anger, they unleash their doomsday weapon upon the humans. This weapon is the infamous alien creatures themselves. Perhaps the ship discovered in the 1979 “Alien” film was a spacecraft bringing its deadly cargo to Earth in order to eradicate mankind. It is possible the crew of the “Prometheus” intercepted the ship and disabled it, causing it to crash land on planet LV-426. In the process, the pilot became a casualty of its own deadly payload.
“Prometheus” stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson, Rafe Spall, Emun Elliott, Benedict Wong, and Vladimir “Furdo” Furdik. Ridley Scott directs this highly anticipated sci-fi/horror epic from the screenplay written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts The film is slated for a June 8th, 2012 release.
