Excellent News: No ‘Batman 3D’

Finally there is someone using their head.  It looks like Christopher Nolan will not be jumping on this ridiculous 3D bandwagon with the next “Batman” movie.  It seems he sees it for what it is, a gimmick.

Cinematical talked to Wally Pfister, the cinematographer for most of Nolan’s films, about the upcoming “Batman 3.”  He says that neither him nor Nolan are too keen on 3D.  They both prefer to shoot on film, and he thinks it would be way too hard to shoot an entire film in 3D.  “I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.”

If this is true, all I can say is thank God.  The last thing the world needs is another film ruined by the 3D experiment.  Sure, 3D worked for “Avatar,” but for the most part it is a disaster.  Just look at the mess that was “Clash of the Titans 3D.”  I think there has to be a really compelling reason to use the technology.  If it doesn’t further the storytelling, why use it?  At least Nolan seems to get it.  Good for him!
