Looks like an Americanized version of Godzilla will be returning to theaters in 2012. But does anyone care?
In 1998 Roland Emmerich and Matthew Broderick pretty much killed the idea of a good “Godzilla” with their awful giant iguana movie. Give it enough time though, and even this starts sounding like a good idea to some Hollywood executive. Seems Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros are teaming up on a new “Godzilla” after striking a deal with rights holder Toho.
Does this mean I don’t think a good “Godzilla” isn’t possible? Not at all. I would love to see a great monster movie like this stateside. The problem is that Hollywood doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to movies like this. So call me skeptical.
