When Marvel dismissed Jon Favreau from the third Iron Man installment, it was for monetary reasons. However, this currency driven motive has been a blessing in disguise for old “Shell head.” Acquiring new talent and taking a step back from fronting “The Avengers” movie may give breathing room to the franchise in order to develop Iron Man’s character into something more tangible.Screenwriter turned director Shane Black is overseeing Iron Man’s new transformation. It is reported the villains will be more realistic. This is much the same way Christopher Nolan took over the Batman reigns and turned it into a wildly popular goldmine. Drew Pearce has been hired to help co-write the script with Black. Rumors report Disney is a little nervous about having Black write the script due to his dark R-rated overtones in his previous work. Disney wants to keep the “armored one” family friendly. It sounds like a decent collaboration. Will they tackle the “Demon in a Bottle” storyline? Only time will tell.
“Iron Man 3” is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2013. Actor Robert Downey, Jr. will reprise his role as Anthony Stark, Iron Man’s real life alter ego. The screenplay is co-written by Drew Pearce and Shane Black. Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) directs.
