The Hollywood Reporter landed this exclusive that Nuke the Fridge has been tracking. Lakeshore and Lionsgate are in negotiations with Yvonne Strahovski, from television’s “Chuck.” They are offering her the female lead in the ensemble monster movie “I, Frankenstein.” If cast, Strahovski will play a scientist who is working on reanimating the dead, and has been tricked into working for demons seeking to create an army of the undead.
“Lord of the Ring’s,” Miranda Otto, who portrayed Eowyn in the Peter Jackson films, is set to play the queen of the gargoyles. Her character wants to help Dr. Frankenstein’s creature, Adam (Aaron Eckhart.)
The storyline of the film is as follows:
Frankenstein’s creature, Adam has survived to present day thanks to a genetic quirk in his creation. He arrives at a gothic metropolis and finds himself caught in an epic war between two immortal clans.
Hopscotch Features is partnering with Lakeshore to produce the movie. Lionsgate will distribute.
“I, Frankenstein” will begin principle photography in February of 2012 in Victoria, Australia. It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 22, 2013, and stars Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto, and Socratis Otto. Kevin Grevioux and Stuart Beattie wrote the screenplay, from the graphic novel written by Kevin Grevioux. Stuart Beattie will direct.
